About Us
How do I use NUOnlineBooks.com?
  • First, select the student group or charity that you would like your referral fee to benefit using the drop-down menu on the left side of the page. If you select one of the student groups, that group will receieve 5% of any purchase you make through the Amazon.com searchbar or from any link you click on a specific course page. Family Focus will receieve the remaining 2-3% referral commission. If you select Family Focus from the drop-down menu, that organization will receieve the entire 7.5-8% referral fee from your purchase.
  • After selecting your preferred beneficiary, browse through the textbook database to see which books are required for your Winter 2008 classes. Or, search for any item on Amazon.com (book, food, DVD, clothing, etc.) through our Amazon.com searchbar at the top-right of the page.
  • After selecting an item to purchase from the searchbar or by clicking a link in the textbook list, purchase the item as you normally would from Amazon.com or Half.com. Once your purchase is completed through the affiliate, we receive the commission and donate it to your beneficiary at the end of the quarter.
Why buy books online?
Whereas many Northwestern students still buy books from the Norris Book Store, a growing number of students are saving money by ordering books online. There is a wider selection of used books available online and - if you look around for the best deal - new books can be at least 10-20% cheaper than Norris.

According to MakeTextbooksAffordable.com , the price of textbooks has increased at four times the rate of inflation since 1994. A report by the California Student Public Interest Research Group, entitled "Rip-Off 101", also critized the publishing industry for driving up the cost of course materials.
